Dundee Pride Announces Date and Venue for 2nd Dundee Pride

Organisers of Dundee Pride are pleased to announce that the City’s 2nd Pride event will take place on Saturday the 21st of September 2019. Due to the success of and large crowds at  the inaugural event in 2018, Dundee Pride moves to Slessor Gardens for 2019.

This year’s event will build on the positive festivities from the 2018 event.  Once again Pride will feature a march, a wide range of entertainment, a youth zone, stalls, food, bar area and a welcome atmosphere for all members of the community who wish to celebrate Pride.

For 2019 organisers are working with local LGBT+ establishments, cultural organisations and LGBT friendly organisations to build a programme of Pride events in the run up to 21st of September. Those organisations looking to become involved can find information on the Dundee Pride Facebook Page.

Applications for acts and traders will open on the 9th of April and will close on the 17th of June. Public announcements of the acts and traders will be made in mid-July.

Tim Kelly, Dundee Pride Co-Chair, stated, “Last year I saw everything from young children playing superheroes wearing Pride and Trans flags for capes to an 80-year-old lesbian care home resident in tears because this was her first Pride event. It was a truly moving experience that we want to make bigger and better.”

Lisamarie Cohen said, “We are pleased to once again to help show the world that Dundee is a diverse and welcoming city. Slessor Gardens will be an amazing venue for our Pride Village.”

Tommy Small, Co-Chair, said, “This year we are strengthening our partnership working and this will help make Pride 2019 even more inclusive.”

Dani Bandeva, who is a Trustee and Abertay student said, “It’s great Dundee Pride is in September. Students are part of the Dundee community, so we love that we are such a part of the event”.
